The future of Food packaging: Jokey at Gulf Food Manufacturing “Future in Focus”

The Jokey Group presents groundbreaking packaging solutions at Gulf Food Manufacturing.

When the new packaging law goes into effect in January 2019, the material recycling rate for packaging will increase from 36 to 58.5 percent, and to 63 percent starting in 2022. Jokey’s Eco Concept is prepared for it: Jokey packaging products offer optimum functionality while considerably reducing material usage. All containers are made of pure polyolefins and are therefore 100 percent recyclable. They are also fully drainable, which facilitates the recycling process. Jokey provides the option to use secondary raw materials obtained during the recycling process for packaging in the non-food sector. With its “GREY IS THE NEW GREEN” initiative, the company is calling on fillers and consumers to use more of the grey-coloured recycled containers. The recycled material is in no way inferior to the original packaging: it is just as efficient and can be enhanced using any of Jokey’s decoration processes for effective advertising.

Jokey specializes in customization

Packaging must attract attention at the point of sale and embody the message of the product brand. Jokey provides all of the technical possibilities to accomplish this: custom mould packaging, high-resolution, photorealistic images produced in the in-mould labelling process (IML) and precise preproduction of brand colors. Jokey produces enhancements of comparable high-quality for small print runs in digital printing. The in-house Jokey Design Service provides professional support during design development.

As a technology leader in the industry, Jokey has perfected the in-mould labelling process (IML). Emotionally charged imagery as well as a wide selection of effects increase the appeal and value of the packaging: luminescent packaging materials, metallic and glitter effects, black light functions, peel-off labels and much more arouse curiosity and invite customers to look, touch and try out.

Intelligent, networked and smart

Whether industry 4.0 or digitalization at the point of sale: Jokey already offers the technologies that will be widespread in the future. This includes packaging that communicates with mobile devices or scanner checkouts, as well as IML designs that show interruptions in the cooling chain or containers that have an oxygen-hydrogen barrier.

New: caps & closures

At this year’s FachPack, Jokey will present its new range of caps & closures for the first time. It consists of closures for bottles, screw caps for tubes and flip-top caps for home care, food and chemical products. Custom-mould closures are also produced.
