Jokey Turkey celebrates 25th anniversary

Jokey Turkey celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special employee event on 09 September 2023. Against the impressive backdrop of Istanbul at night, Jokey Turkey invited all employees to a boat cruise with a gala dinner followed by a party on the Bosphorus. "Jokey Turkey is a German-Turkish success story and our anniversary is a joyful occasion to celebrate together with our employees and to thank them for their commitment and trust," adds Jens Stadter, Chief Executive Officer Jokey Group. Jokey Plastik Istanbul was founded in Gebze in 1998. With the plant in the Anatolian part of the Istanbul metropolitan region, the family-owned company from the Bergisches Land region consistently continued its international expansion. Thanks to customer proximity, short delivery routes and a high level of supply security for the diversified range of rigid lidded containers, Jokey has been able to successfully open up the South-East European market.

However, the Jokey plant suffered a serious setback shortly after its foundation: in 1999, a severe earthquake shook the region east of Istanbul. Fortunately, employees of Jokey Plastik Istanbul were not injured, but the newly founded factory was severely damaged. Thanks to the tireless commitment of all those responsible at Jokey in Germany and Turkey, production was quickly resumed. Jokey Turkey is growing and is able to further develop and expand its product portfolio in cooperation with its customers. Lessons are also being learned from the 1999 disaster. In 2012, therefore, a three-storey industrial complex is built, earthquake-proof and at a new location in the province of Kocaeli. On the 20,000 m2 site, Jokey Turkey produces packaging for more than 350 customers in 31 countries.

“The site is now a showcase plant for the Turkish plastics industry and is one of the most advanced production facilities for plastic injection moulding in the world. With its expertise and through reliable partnership with its customers, Jokey Turkey has established itself as the leading food packaging manufacturer in the MENA region.
